Unified communications (UC) is the integration of real-time enterprise communication services such as instant messaging, presence information, voice (including IP telephony), mobility features (including extension mobility and single number reach), audio, web & video conferencing, fixed-mobile convergence.

BT have announced that they plan to migrate all customers to an IP network by 2025. ISDN will be phased out and is already being replaced with Session Internet Protocol (SIP).
